Jake Gyllenhaal To Open New Organic Restaurant

Richard Gere and Sandra Bullock are just a few of the many celebrities who have opened their own restaurants. Actor Jake Gyllenhaal is joining in on the trend and plans to open an organic restaurant in LA.

Gyllenhaal is not alone in his latest project, his childhood pal chef Chris Fischer is helping to make the experience high-class and all-natural.

"Friends claim that Gyllenhaal, who has appeared on Mario Batali’s US cookery show Molto Mario, has always vowed to open a restaurant before he turns 30. A source told Life&Style: 'Cooking is [Jake’s] big hobby and his passion.'"

Goings On Around Town: The Face Parlour Launch Party

We've mentioned Face Parlour before, but allow us to re-introduce.

Face Parlour was founded by Lauren Fornes, an esthetician with a goal to "democratize radiant skin." She found her calling after a successful career in luxury marketing and her own personal struggle with adult acne. Lauren loves to help her clients feel and look great, all while knowing the real ingredients in the products. Through the FaceParlour site, she shares her expertise and research with the hope of directing clients to skin care products that are effective, safe, and sustainable.

On April 22nd Face Parlour held a party at Spring in San Francisco for their official launch! Lauren greeted everyone as they walked in through the door. After being greeted by Lauren, guests were free to view the products of Spring, nibble on snacks, drink organic vodkas, and mingle amongst themselves.

Congratulations to Lauren and FaceParlour, we hope to be celebrating many anniversaries with you!

Teens Turning Green National Campaign Kick-Off

Friday April 4th of 2008 marked a day in history. At the Broad Street Ballroom in New York City, The Teens For Safe Cosmetics Campaign held their Turning Green-Living Green event. If you weren't there, you definitely missed out! Erin Schrode and her team of green advocates put on an amazing event that featured a short documentary, an absolutely stunning runway show, several organic brands, and a mini-spa to boot.

Tim Daly, from the popular spin-off of Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, was in attendance along with his wife Amy Van Nostrand to support their daughter Emelyn Daly who was a model in the run-way portion of the event!

All of the models were amazing as they strutted down the run-way in the coolest and hippest organic clothes. Be sure to keep these names in mind for the future, they could be the next top model: Alexandra Vicuna, Cheyenne Kinch, Deepa Satwarine, Dwayne Garner, Emelyn Daly, Erica Fredrickson, Erin Schrode, Hannah Gross, Jade Viggiano, Jenny Osman, Jessica Despagne, Julia Wilfert, Kendra Miller-Rosenberg, Leah Sinderbrand, Taylor Griffin, and Marissa O'Brien.

Everyone who was there walked away with a free goody bag with samples from all of the brands and tasty snacks and treats provided by Whole Foods. They also walked away with a clear message: ORGANIC IS FABULOUS!

We can’t wait for The Teens For Safe Cosmetics Campaign to put on another glamorous event.

Hail to the Mighty O!

It looks like Seattle is trying to jump ahead on the list of Green Cities because I just stumbled upon the website for Mighty O! Donuts - All Organic Donuts.

Thats combining two wonderful things in my opinion: sustainability, environmental care AND scrumptious donuts. They're even vegan as well.

What's more? Mighty O opens the business up for educational field trips and donate their extra donuts to shelters and schools. They also support local artists by offering public space for them to display their work.

I wonder if they taste as delicious as the regular ones...there's only one way to find out. ROAD TRIP!

Make it an Organic Easter

Looking for ways to make this Easter a little bit greener? Wellbaskets.com is now offering Certified Organic Easter baskets for you to hide for your little ones.

The basket offers tasty and healthy snacks that have all been third party certified organic AND have been given the kid taste-test approval. It contains organic cookies, organic dark chocolate bites, corn snacks, fruit leather, soy chips, and of course, (what would an easter basket be without one?) a stuffed animal easter bunny.

So if you're looking to give your kids a new healthy kind of easter treat this year, this may be your answer.

My only question is...where are all the jelly beans?
