Dicaprio Documentary In The Works, Again

Leonardo Dicaprio has never been shy about his commitment to improving this world. He currently is working on a follow-up to his environmental documentary, The 11th Hour. The previous film highlighted the effects of global warning and expressed a demand from us all to start rescuing the world from the perils of climate change.

Dicaprio had this to say about his reason for developing The 11th Hour:

"The environment has been a huge passion of mine ever since I was very young. I was really affected by documentaries that I saw as a kid about the rainforests, the mass extinction that's going on right now. We were trying to make a film that would really impact on people, to the point where they leave the movie theatre facing the harsh realities of what will happen to this planet and us in the future if we dont make a change. But we also wanted to highlight and, hopefully, inspire people to realise there are a lot of solutions out there if they become active."

"That's the whole key to making this movie inspiring people to become more educated about this subject and to take action personally. And hopefully, when people see this movie, they'll be emotionally impacted and want to do something about it."

We hope his next documentary will have the same impact.

Suzanne Juul is a woman to admire. Despite many hardships and tragedies she's encountered in her lifetime she is still fulfilling her dreams.

She began kitting one-of-a-kind ponchos and then took her knitting talent and turned it into a business: Suzanne Juul Designs. She has expanded the business to include swing coats, caplets, sweaters, and the ever-popular and unique eternity shawl.

Juul said, “I want to make clothes that are noticed, that are head-turners that say ‘I’m here.’”

Mary Kate Olsen, Hayden Panettiere, and Eva Longoria are just a few celebs who've been sighted wearing an item from the Juul collection.

Another Green Celebrity Mom

Jennie Garth from the utterly popular Beverly Hills 90210 is now a mother of three beautiful girls. Her latest project - aside from being a full-time mother - has been designing and promoting new environmentally friendly 100% recycled cotton bags. She teamed up with Green Works natural cleaners for the project and when you purchase a bag Green Works will donate $3.65 to the Sierra Club.

“Like many moms, I’m on a journey to living a more natural lifestyle without sacrificing quality and convenience,” said Garth. “Working with the Green Works team to design this bag is another opportunity to share the message about natural cleaning, while supporting a deserving organization like the Sierra Club.”

We admire a woman who strives to live a greener life style.

Keep Your Summers By Saving Our Oceans

Many of us spend at least some of our summer time at the beach. With the way that global warming is quickly affecting our world, we need to take an active part in saving our summers and indefinitely our oceans.

Jack Johnson is one man behind the cause. The mission is to raise some much-needed funds for our beaches and oceans. The foundation is offering a $45 donation deal which lands you a membership plus Jack’s new CD Sleep Through the Static, a hot Rise Above Plastics (RAP) SIGG bottle, and a chic RAP tote bag.

Donatations to the Surfrider Foundation are also greatly appreciated and free through the YouthNoise Just 1 Click program throughout the month of August. Just click–as many times as you want–and YN will donate up to $1,000.

A Busy Woman

Angelina Jolie may have recently given birth to her twins Knox Leon & Vivienne Marcheline, filmed the movie WANTED and be raising four other children, but that hasn't stopped her from world projects.

She plans to travel to her daughter Zahara's native country, Ethiopia, and build a medical center and an AIDS clinic for the residents. This is just one of the many projects that are part of the Jolie-Pitt Foundation.

Jolie told Britain’s Hello magazine, “We will be building a TB (tuberculosis)/AIDS clinic in Ethiopia. One we plan for Zahara to take over when she is older.” Adding, “the next trip for our foundation will most likely to be Asia to follow up on the situation in Burma and our work in Cambodia.”

Leona Lewis Launching Vegan Fashion Line

Leona Lewis is currently best known for her hit single Bleeding Love. But, pretty soon she may be known for something more, well, wearable.

A staunch animal rights supporter, Leona hopes that her vegan fashion line will give fellow vegans more options, much like Portman's line of shoes.

A source tells British magazine Hello:
“She’s always adored animals since she was a little girl and has been a vegetarian since the age of 12. The reason she doesn’t wear diamonds is because she doesn’t know how they have been sourced. It was for this reason that she is determined to set up her own ethical fashion range and sell the goods at high street prices.”

Gossip Girl Cast Member Goes Green, Thanks To Motherhood

Industry vet and Gossip Girl regular Kelly Rutherford recently told US magazine that she’s officially gone green. Kelly and her husband are building an eco-house complete with denim insulation, and earth-friendly lighting.  Her brand new 18-month-old baby inspired the change.  “You think: Wow, they come in so pure, you want to keep it that way," Kelly was reported as saying.

She's not the first celebrity to develop green baby inspiration, writes Ecorazzi. Julia Roberts and Melissa Joan Hart have also joined the ranks of the converted.

Natalie Portman Launches Vegan Shoe Line

Natalie Portman is an amazing actress and a true activist. She may not be a vegan when it comes to the food she eats, but she definitely makes sure that the clothes she wears are not made from any animal products.

She has launched a line of vegan shoes, saying, "As a vegan, it’s been challenging finding designer shoes made of alternative materials. This collection offers a great selection without compromising quality or style."

Portman’s shoes are available online at TeCasan.com and at the NYC boutique located at 382 West Broadway. Some 5% of profits from her shoe line goes towards charity.
