New Ingredient in Products and On the Shelves

Lately several products have been popping on the shelves with a new ingredient: Tiger Grass.

Tiger Grass is an antiseptic herb, also known as gotu kola and centella asiatica. It is supposed to soothe wounds and lessen skin irritation.

If you want to read more about the herb, check it out on Organic India.

ShopLeap at Grasshopper 510

In Chicago there is a boutique that is "eco-concious without a hint of hippie." Have a look for yourself! Grasshopper 510 may not sound like a trendy eco-boutique, but it is indeed.

The name was chosen because grasshoppers symbolize prosperity, wisdom, as well as a leap of faith. The 510 at the end represents the wavelength measurement in nanometers for the color green. The name suggests an environmental movement without being obvious.

They will soon offer online shopping so until then you'll have to make a special trip to Chicago to check them out.

Ashley Watson recyled leather bags, Earthworks Products for Bath & Body, Toby Pomeroy recycled jewelry, and children's gifts from Lilipad Studio and Little Lark, are just a few of the products offered at Grasshopper 510.

Cosmetics Consumer More Likely to Stick With Their Faves

Just 30% of women are willing to switch their cosmetics brands, and nearly half (48%) would change what they use for personal care, like deodorant and shampoo.

In contrast, nearly 7 in 10 women said they would be okay with changing their over-the-counter medicine choice.

Brand loyalty is also weak in the food category, according to the ShopSmart survey - via Cosmetics Design. The majority of women would change their purchase habits for products like milk and eggs.

Of course, they said they would do this if it meant a cut for their household spending bill. How long will it be before the economic stress will cause them to change which cosmetics they buy?

Not yet convinced? Perhaps if you watch Sophie Uliano, she could change your mind. To see the video click here.

Green Mom: Julia Roberts

Julia Robert's is America's Sweetheart, a loving mother of three, and an example to all mother's that living green is possible.

She is making her own eco-friendly cleaning spray, so be expecting to see that out soon. She also keeps a journal on her environmental concerns, checks labels, and plants an organic garden.

For much of her lifestyle changes, she credits her yoga instructor Sophie Uliano.

Dance to Save Our World

Club4Climate is a dance brand that is making its own contribution to saving our environment. It's essentially your typical night out dancing, but all the music and money contributions go to Friends of the Earth. So "all you really have to do is dance to save the world."

Stay tuned because they plan to have an island destination of serious luxury and relaxation that doesn't sacrifice the environment at any expense. It should be opened in 2010.

We Add Up

We Add Up - "is a tremendous marketing tool to promote the important message about the climate crisis." - Al Gore

They use organic T-shirts to make a statement. When you purchase a shirt you're literally counted in the fight against global warming. The number printed on your shirt represents your place in the sequential global count of all the people who are taking steps to help stop climate change.

Along with the T-shirts they offer tote bags, mugs and water bottles. Make a difference and prove that every single person counts!

Vanity Fair Picks the Top 100 Most Influential People

Be sure to pick up the October issue of Vanity Fair. Inside the issue they have released their “Top 100 Most Influential People In The World” list. Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, and Al Gore are in the top 10. Number one is Vladimir Putin.

Vladimir Putin, according to Vanity Fair, "represents a global, moveable band of thinkers, owners, creators, and buyers who are the tastemakers, trendsetters, opinion formers and agenda creators in the worlds of politics, entertainment, media, business, technology, and fashion". He was ranked "based on a number of factors: wealth and influence, as well as such intangibles as vision, philanthropy, and the x factor."

Look to these 100 influential people for inspiration and motivation.
